Don Horneff is a versatile musician on organ, piano, harpsichord and Clavinova.  He enjoys playing many styles of  music.

Don grew up in Cherry Hill, N.J., where his family promoted music. He received a degree in music education at Elizabethtown College (Pa.) and taught instrumental music in Carroll County (Md.) Public Schools. He also performed for 17 years in a variety of musical settings throughout the mid-Atlantic region with Music by Just Us. He was also a recording artist for PianoDisc. In 1981, he began operating a piano tuning and rebuilding service which he continues to maintain in Maryland and Pennsylvania.

Since 1991, Don has been a member of the music faculty at McDaniel College, Westminster, Md., teaching piano lab, harpsichord, electronic music (MIDI), and brass pedagogy. Don performs frequently with Chamber Music on the Hill in residence at McDaniel College, and regularly joins David Kreider in selections for two pianos.
Don is a member of the American Guild of Organists (AGO).

Jamie Brown found joy in most aspects of music coursework at York College—music theory, pedagogy, music history, instrumental and  choral conducting and music analysis—but conducting became her passion.

Building a career in the classroom for the past  12 years, Jamie has experienced challenge and success. Most recently a high school instrumental and vocal music teacher at North Carroll High School in Hampstead, Md., Jamie has worked with different ages and levels of students—elementary, middle and high school. Currently a music teacher at Northwest Middle School in Taneytown, Md., Jamie is often reminded of what it takes to "grow a musician." She values her role in facilitating growth and she gives ownership in the final performance. Jamie
likes the feeling of producing music from notes on paper—bringing voices together in harmony to make full sounds.

In December, Jamie directs the community orchestra for the Annual Carol Sing at Emmanuel. In March 2012, she was guest conductor of the Hanover Symphony Orchestra for "A Night at the Carnival."  In June 2014, she conducted the choir at the Penn Central Conference annual meeting in Selinsgrove, Pa.

Requests for Anthem Dedications
It has become a tradition at Emmanuel to dedicate an anthem in memory or in honor of someone. If you anticipate a special event during the coming year and would like to make a named gift of music sung by our choirs or played by handbells, contact Don Horneff or the church office.
